Short Novel Summary

In his captivating novel, David Copperfield, Charles Dickens combines calamity and satire to create a thrilling plot based on his very own life experiences. Throughout the story, he fascinatingly describes the characters who dramatically changed his life such as his deceptive friend Steerforth; his generous yet uptight aunt, Ms. Betsey Trotwood; the back-stabbing Uriah Heep; his kind but destitute friends, the Micawbers; and his beloved and all-knowing childhood friend, Agnes. Using these outstanding characters, he depicts the adventurous life of a man who went from a life full of suffering and poverty to being one of the most remarkable novelists in British history.
